Months later the Draft Ordinance states that work reviews by “work requiring a building permit . . . must be completed within 30 days.” “Work not requiring a building permit . . . must be completed within 10 days.”

Building Approvals in CD2 took an average of 7 WEEKS in 2022-2023. We checked this by going to the City of Dallas’ Development database. We pulled data on the 29 Permits issued in the Current CD2 in 2022-2023 and found:

Approval in CD2 takes an average of 7 weeks.

If approved, homeowners must go through the regular City of Dallas Building Permit Process.

Then add 5 weeks and 4 days.

What is the impact of the extra layer of permits in terms of time?

It more than doubles the delay in construction.

Living in CD2 increases the wait for a permit from an average of 5 weeks and 4 days to 12 weeks and 4 days.
