City Survey Data from INSIDE the Expansion Area Shows Opponents Outweigh Proponents

In Slide 19 of the Presentation of the Draft Ordinance on 10/29/2024, the City showed a graph showing that equal numbers of Proponents and Opponents.

Do the number of Proponents equal Opponents?

No.

So how did the City come up with their misleading graph?

To get to these numbers, they used respondents to the survey who were outside the Expansion Area.

To get higher Yes numbers, an invitation to take the survey was put in the Preservation Dallas Newsletter to gather Yes votes from uninformed voters predisposed to supporting CDs.

An invitation was also sent to residents in the current CD2, also uninformed voters unaffected by the ordinance.

Finally, the City included duplicate submissions.

Total surveys: 247

True Data FROM THE EXPANSION AREA ONLY Shows Opponents at 59.4% of respondents, Proponents 34.4% of respondents

  • 143 responses from the 275 homes in the Expansion Area.
  • 52% Response rate
  • 85 NO or 59.4%
  • 49 YES or 34.3%
  • 8 Undecided or 4%
